BAUFLY

Autonomous BIM inspection

  • Baufly X1 · Dock · Platform
  • BIM → flight → finding
  • Hosted in Germany

The site comes to you.

Baufly builds the inspection drone, the dock and the platform behind them. Your BIM model decides what to check, the Baufly X1 flies it from its dock, and every photo lands on the building element it shows.

01The problem

Every site update starts with a car key.

01

Hours on the road

Site supervisors drive from site to site to see what a photo could have shown.

02

Late information

Deviations surface days after they happen, when fixing them already means rework.

03

Uneven records

Every visit is documented differently: by a different person, from a different angle, on a different day.

02What we offer

Three products, one system.

Aircraft, dock and platform are developed together. The platform decides what to fly, runs the fleet and keeps the data.

HARDWARE

Baufly X1 + Dock

  • Inspection drone with 48 MP 4/3″ camera and RTK

  • Own airframe, flight firmware and payload

PLATFORM

Baufly Platform

  • Plans missions from the BIM model and 4D schedule
  • Runs aircraft, docks, geofences and flight windows
  • Turns photos into findings, issues and reports

SERVICE

Baufly Operations

  • Maintenance, firmware updates and support

03How it works

From model to evidence in five steps.

  1. 01

    Plan

The BIM model and the 4D schedule define what should be built this week.

  2. 02

    Generate

The platform computes viewpoints and a signed flight mission for every element due.

  3. 03

    Fly

The Baufly X1 takes off from its dock and photographs each element from its viewpoint.

  4. 04

    Link

After landing, the photos upload on their own and land on their BIM element.

  5. 05

    Review

Engineers look only at the deviations and turn them into issues for the trade.

Every photo knows which element it shows.

04Data flow

From flight to finding, automatically.

No SD cards, no manual upload, no sorting photos into folders. As soon as the aircraft is back in its dock, its photos travel to the platform and onto the building model.

Data path · after every flightAutomatic · resumable · encrypted
  1. 01

    Back in the dock

The X1 lands on the Baufly Dock and starts charging. The lid closes behind it.

  2. 02

    Upload

Every photo goes to app.baufly.com over the dock’s LTE or Ethernet link, encrypted and resumable if the connection drops.

  3. 03

    Matching

Position, heading and gimbal angle place each photo on the BIM element it shows.

  4. 04

    Findings

Each element shows its status, installed, deviation or missing, with the photo as evidence.

  5. 05

    Issues for the trade

A confirmed deviation becomes an issue for the responsible trade, with photo and position attached.

06Platform

The platform governs everything.

Nothing flies and no data moves without the platform. It turns the model, the schedule and the site rules into missions, and the missions into evidence for every role.

07Features

Twelve features in four modules.

Across all modules: roles and permissions, two-factor sign-in, audit log, hosting in Germany.

08Hardware

Built to inspect. Made to stay on site.

The Baufly X1 and the Baufly Dock are developed together with the platform: one airframe, one firmware, one data path. No third-party drone inside.

Why our own hardware

IndependenceNo dependency on a third-party drone vendor or its cloud for sensitive projects.
Data sovereigntyPhotos go from the dock straight to servers in Germany, nowhere else.
One systemThe aircraft captures exactly what the model asks for.

10Rollout

From kickoff to weekly flights.

A typical rollout per site. Your team keeps working as before; the evidence arrives on its own.

WEEK 1

Kickoff

Site walk, flight zone and site rules, roles in the platform. We prepare the operational authorisation with you.

WEEK 1–2

BIM import

IFC or Revit model uploaded and georeferenced, 4D schedule linked to levels and elements.

WEEK 3

Dock installation

Dock set on a foundation or ballast frame, power and LTE connected, test flights and acceptance.

FROM WEEK 4

Weekly flights

Inspection plans fly whatever the 4D schedule says is due. Findings and a weekly digest reach your team every Monday.

Autonomous dock flights beyond visual line of sight require an operational authorisation in the EU “specific” category. Until it is granted, flights run in visual line of sight with a remote pilot.

11Availability

12FAQ

Good to know.

Do you build the drone yourselves?

Yes. The Baufly X1, the Baufly Dock, the flight firmware and the platform are developed in-house as one system. There is no third-party drone inside.

How do the photos get to the platform?

Automatically. After landing, the X1 uploads every photo through the dock’s LTE or Ethernet connection, encrypted, resumable and checked file by file. Nobody has to collect an SD card.

Which BIM data do you need?

An IFC export or a Revit file. If the model carries a georeference, we use it; otherwise we pin the model to surveyed control points. The 4D schedule can be imported from MS Project XML, Excel or CSV.

What about airspace rules?

The X1 is designed for EU class C2 and carries Remote ID. Autonomous dock operation beyond visual line of sight requires an authorisation in the EU “specific” category based on a SORA risk assessment, which we prepare with you. Geofences, height limits and working hours are checked before every take-off.

What happens in bad weather?

The dock’s weather station and the forecast decide. If wind, rain or temperature are outside the limits, the flight moves to the next suitable window and the platform tells you.

Outdoor or indoor?

The X1 inspects facades, roofs and structure from outside. Indoor flight is in development and not part of the current release.

What happens to people in the images?

People are blurred on board, before any photo leaves the aircraft. The system records building elements, not workers.

Where is the data stored?

On servers in Germany. Project data remains the property of the client and can be exported at any time.
